Everyday-Use Duvet Covers: Durability Features That Matter More Than Thread Count
Thread count gets treated as the one number that determines duvet cover quality, but for a cover that gets washed weekly, slept under nightly, and handled by an insert being stuffed in and pulled out every few months, thread count is answering the wrong question. It measures softness and density in a woven fabric — it doesn't tell you whether the closure will hold up, whether the seams will fray, or whether the insert will stay in place after fifty washes.
