With a history of thousands of years, silk is commonly known as a strong, natural fiber with a soft touch and a beautiful sheen. Silk also has several wellness and beauty benefits, which continue to make it a sought-after fiber in everything from surgery sutures to spring sheets.
Here are some of the many health and beauty benefits that silk fabric offers sleepers. We hope you enjoy this Bedsure blog post!
- Silk can help those suffering from skin disturbances
Silk sheets and pillow cases can help relieve worrisome and uncomfortable skin conditions like acne. According to Yoram Harth, a Board-certified Dermatologist and Medical Director of MDacne, "Silk pillowcases absorb less of the moisture and dirt and thus may be a better choice for people with acne," Harth says. "This is especially true for people who sleep on their sides or stomach."
- Silk is hypoallergenic
For those who suffer from allergies, spring and summer can be a nightmare. Thanks to silk requiring less chemicals and containing natural substances, which ward off things like mold, fungus and dust mites, it can be a great relief to people with allergies. We should always be able to sleep well, even if we have allergies.
- Silk can be more moisturizing for the skin than cotton
Waking up with dry or rough skin can be a hard start to the day. Waking up with smoother, softer skin feels good and refreshing, and may reduce the need for make up or moisturizer. Silk contains beneficial proteins that can protect and hydrate skin by repairing skin cells and promoting hydration. Soft skin feels great, inside and out!
- Silk can provide a cooling effect for women who experience hot flashes
Though hot flashes are a natural part of the menopause process for women, they can feel uncomfortable. Cooling bedding products can help to relieve the sweatiness and hotness, helping women feel more comfortable and relaxed. According to Charla Blacker, MD, an obstetrician-gynecologist from Henry Ford Hospital, for the 75 to 85 percent of women who suffer from this women’s health issue, she suggests sleeping in cool, breathable sheets.
- Silk can help hair be free from frustrating tangles
Waking up with messy or tangled hair can be a real headache. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can help to leave hair smooth and tranquil. “Sleeping on a cotton pillowcase will cause hair to bunch, knot, and get staticky,” says New York City salon owner John Corbett. “On a soft silk pillowcase, however, hair will slide, which is much less damaging." For "silky smooth" hair, silk bedding is the way to go!
To help people enjoy the many benefits of silk bedding, Bedsure created the 100% Pure Mulberry Silk Pillowcase and Sleep Eye Mask set. Made of high grade, 22 Momme silk, our products are the perfect anniversary gift, self-care or comfort gift for hardworking people.

Nice Blog! I recently purchased a silk pillowcase from Taft. I really loved it. Resting your hair on a silk pillowcase decreases friction from any tossing and turning you may have while you sleep because silk is naturally more supple than other textiles, like cotton. This has a lot of advantages for having healthier hair, like reduced frizz and less breaking. that’s the reason I bought it for my hair.
It sure was nice when you said that silk fabrics can ward off things like mold, dust mites, and fungus since they require fewer chemicals. My sister and I are getting married in January next year, and we are looking for the best fabric for the gowns. We are both prone to allergies, so I could imagine how beneficial it is for us to order a wholesale of synthetic microfiber products. https://www.decorativesilk.com/products/microfiber-velvet?pos=2&_sid=e32521452&ss=r
